12 M College Football (don't know exactly what goes on here)

Probably OSU or OU highlights.

Very nice OK listing! Same stations as my May '80 OK TVG.

-crainbebo

There'd be another in OKC within the year; Ch. 43.

BTW, if you have any from '78 or '79 can you post the
listings? And if you do have any and decide to sell, I'd
be interested in taking them off your hands (I'm particularly
interested in KOCO during this time because it was a sister
station to WXIA and WLKY, and all three used the "Alive"
branding, plus they were all ABC affiliates then).

Would love a weekday and sunday schedule as well Thanks

Did this edition of TVG still list KXII as NBC/CBS? By this time, the North Texas edition was calling it CBS/NBC. They still aired Today, Tonight and Tomorrow Coast to Coast and maybe one night of prime from NBC. But almost all of prime time and all of the soaps were from CBS by 1980.

KXII was still being listed as NBC/CBS in the Oklahoma State edition.
Other than the three NBC shows you mentioned ("Today," "Tonight,"
and "Tomorrow Coast-to-Coast") I don't see anything other than
CBS shows in daytime, primetime, and Saturday morning, plus CBS's
NFL coverage (KTEN carried NBC's games). In 1981 KXII was also
carrying "Little House On The Prairie" and "Father Murphy" from NBC.

I started working at KXII in December of 1980. We only had one network feed coming into the building. The switch from NBC to CBS was made via remote to a microwave relay in about 40 miles away. I never really got a good answer about it, but I'm sure it was too expensive to run two microwave lines all the way to the building in Sherman.

So KXII was always "in pattern" with whichever network we were running. We couldn't air a CBS program live from the network while recording one on NBC for later use.

I don't know whether KTEN had both ABC and NBC coming simultaneously into their building in Ada. At the time the KTEN signal didn't reach the Sherman-Denison area.

And occasionally both stations would run the same
NBC program: case in point, the Miss America Pageant.

Wow. When did that happen? More than 1 year? I'm surprised NBC would allow that since there WAS significant overlap in their coverage. (Both covered all of their Oklahoma counties. KTEN didn't cover Grayson County, Texas, but at the time Grayson wasn't in their ADI.)
