1440 KXXR is also long gone.

There was a station licensed to Medical Lake on 1480 kHz once. Also one on 1550 and another on 1590 kHz in Spokane....

This was at the height of the KJRB-KREM battle, same companies banging it out as in Seattle. Talent was huge on both, perhaps because a lot of 'em wanted to get to their Seattle counterparts. Charlie Brown had moved over to KJR the year before, and Andy Barber was at KREM in '75, eventually also moving back to the westside at KING. Like in Seattle, KJRB was the heritage, but KREM offered a nice, clean more-music fake drake sound. A fun time for AM radio, perhaps the sad end of an era at the same time.

As a personal aside, I remember visiting Spokane for the World's Fair in '74 and hearing a cool 'JRB jingle that had some sort of "Rock Island" verbaige. Never understood what that meant, but remember I really liked the sound of it. Anyone have any memories of this, or even better, an audio file of it?
