...Tom Snyder and Mort Crim were two of KYW-TV/3's local news anchors at the time; did they work any of the weekend newscasts, or strictly the weeknighters?...

Don't know...the listings didn't mention the newscasters for KYW...only ad that mentioned newscasters was WCAU, which mentioned long-time newsman John Facenda...

Tom Snyder anchored at noon, later at 7 pm. Mort crim wasn't hired at KYW until '72 IIRC. Wes Sarginson may have anchored weekends at the time.

Sarginson later ended up at WKYC-TV Cleveland..about 1969-70..Snyder had been in Cleveland at KYW before the move to Philadelphia..

Looks like Ch 29's 9:30 to 11:30 am sked was taken direct from ABC.....6 didn't take it.

It would seem that 6's "Bugs Bunny" at 10:00 am was the pre 1948 package, as BB was on at 12 noon Sat on ABC.

That day (according to Shrp Sports.com), the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Washington Redskins. Then-CBS O&O WCAU-10 Philadelphia could not broadcast the game since NFL league rules banned games from being televised in, or on any TV station within 75 miles of, the city where the game was being played in even if it was sold out.

The NFL blackout rules at the time stated that not only were games blacked out in and near the home team's city, but no other NFL game could be televised at the same time a team was at home.

Thus, the only game WCAU could carry was a 4:05 P.M. EST start.

According to that day's Boston Globe, CBS carried an NFL doubleheader that day (but in cities like Philadelphia, which had an NFL team at home that day, only one game could be televised).

By contrast, then-NBC affiliate KYW-3 probably got big viewing numbers for their early-afternoon American Football League game, since there was no NFL game on local TV at that hour.

By the way, here in Boston, the Patriots hosted the Oakland Raiders at Fenway Park (where the team played their home games then), however, it was not on local TV. The one AFL game that was on Boston-area television that day was on then-NBC station WBZ-4; it was between Houston and Kansas City and started at 2:35 P.M. EST.
