7:30 Baseball: Atlanta at Pittsburgh

You sure about that one? Back when KDKA had the Pirates contract they almost
never broadcast home games. In fact, I can't recall a single instance.

Replaced is more like it. Their old transmitter was VERY old. It had belonged to WENS which broadcast on channel 16 in the mid-50's (and supposedly they had bought it used from a station in Scranton, PA). It only broadcast in black-and-white and broke down frequently. By 1985 I don't think many parts were available, and surely QED would not have wanted to continue with it.

I checked two Pittsburgh papers (Pittsburgh Press and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) and both listed that game at 7:30 on KDKA 2.

Interesting. At the time their ownership was still concerned about driving down attendance
by showing home games.

Of course the '86 Bucs were so bad, what did they have to lose?
