Woah that era when KOVR became CBS affiliate and KXTV moving to ABC lines up when Disney was in the process of taking over ABC which as one of the biggest deals of that era. Here is more details on the Sacramento affiliation switch of 1995.

KXTV, a television station in Sacramento, Calif., will switch its affiliation from CBS to ABC next year under an agreement announced on Friday by the station's owner, the A. H. Belo Corporation of Dallas.

In Sacramento, Rick Blangiardi, general manager of KOVR-TV, the current ABC affiliate, said his station would become a CBS affiliate next year.

The 10-year agreement with Capital Cities/ABC Inc. also covers Belo's WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth and WVEC in Hampton-Norfolk, Va. Both are already affiliated with ABC.

The KXTV switch will occur after its agreement with CBS expires on April 30. WFAA's affiliation agreement was set to expire July 1 and WVEC's on April 1.

But it was the same era when New World Communications was in the process of signing up affiliation deal with Fox in other parts of the country like KSAZ-TV, WJBK-TV, WAGA-TV, WTVT, as some of its big ones switching from CBS to Fox as part of that unrelated deal in other parts of the country. It was the deal that lead to the formation of Fox Sports when that happened.
