Very likely "Celebrity Cooks", a cooking program hosted by "Beachcomber" Bruno Gerussi and featuring Canadian and international stars, including a notorious 1978 episode with Bob Crane that never aired:

12:30 CBS Late Movie-"Pretty Peggy" [1973] Special guest star is Bette Davis. A college art student is hired as housekeeper at a mansion but learns that the previous housekeeper is mysteriously missing.

As Kojak reruns were part of the "CBS late Movie", the start time of "Pretty Peggy" is actually 12:40AM.

As the Times was one of the very few publications to actually list in-school shows, using a grid format certainly does not help here. What I think should be is in bold Italics above.

The 7PM show was "Anyone for Tennyson?". At 9PM was the "Consumer Survival Kit".

Thanks for telling me all the titles! I think grid form listings are always not great, because they chop up the show titles really bad. The L.A. Times, from what I've seen, did not do that in the early '90s. Plus TV Guide, besides the evening grids.

The Magazine show on 7 was likley pre-empting Price Is Right which was airing at 10/9 at that time on CBS.

Correct. No one in Seattle had TPiR for a short time in the '70s. I think KIRO did air the 1/2 hour TPiR when it was new in 1972.

-crainbebo

I believe KIRO preempted The Price is Right from September 1978 to April 1979 when they aired Phil Donahue from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Since Price aired from 9:30-10:30, KIRO filled the last half hour with All in the Family, delayed from 9:00 a.m. Price returned when CBS moved it to 10:00.

5:30 News

In those days, from my understanding, CHEK aired a local newscast from 5:30-6:00 and then the Newshour from BCTV at 6:00, which by then had been anchored by Tony Parsons for just over one year.

Interesting to see what their schedule looked like as a split CBC/CTV affiliate, especially airing both Canada AM and The National.

I remember posting Bob McLean in a couple of Saskatchewan listings. It was a talk show.

My brain froze, I should have gotten Barney Miller. Thanks!

I see that KING-5 (NBC) pre-empted NBC daytime reruns of Sanford and Son and Wheel Of Fortune. And wasn't The Cross-Wits an once a week syndicated show or 5 days a week? And I also see that KVOS-12 (CBS) pre-empted Search For Tomorrow, As The World Turns and The Guiding Light.

KVOS only showed selected CBS programs in its final decade or so of CBS, because KIRO 7 was complaining and getting steamed up about KVOS duplicating CBS programs.

That, plus the fact that simsubbing was becoming more of a concern when Canadian stations started carrying American shows at the same time as the American networks (including CBS).

Looking at a listing from 1973-KIRO never did show New Price is Right [30 min version]. The first Bob Barker year went to indie KSTW in the morning hours. I'll post said listing soon.

-crainbebo

In the years that KVOS was weaning itself off CBS, does anybody know how the station decided which CBS shows it would clear? Did the station tend to clear CBS programs that weren't being shown in Canada? And why didn't CBS just drop KVOS cold rather than maintain what ended up being a sporadic secondary affiliation?

I believe the former is "Vegetable Soup", though I've always known it to be a half-hour format.
