Two notes:

(1) "Lawrence Welk" back then was being done live from 6 to 7 P.M. Pacific time, and the show apparently was live across the entire ABC network (outside of those stations that aired it on a delay). Here on the East Coast, it aired from 9 to 10 P.M. EST?EDT.

I wonder why the show was not delayed on the West Coast until 9 P.M. PST/PDT. Maybe Welk and his Champagne Music Makers, after finishing up their live TV show at 7 P.M. PT, performed at a ballroom or nightclub in the Los Angeles area later that evening and didn't want their TV show to be delayed to 9 P.M. PT and conflict with their live performance.

(2) Was Jay Stewart of KTTV-11's "Town Hall Party" the same Jay Stewart who was Monty Hall's announcer/sidekick on "Let's Make A Deal" from it's debut in late 1963 through the 1980/1981 syndicated version??

..."Lawrence Welk" back then was being done live from 6 to 7 P.M. Pacific time...

What did ABC do back in the late '50s during October as far as the left coast air time of Welk?
Was the show done from 5-6 PM PST, in order to air 9-10 PM EDT?

(This was when many markets stayed on DST until the end of October, but where Cali went
back to standard time at the end of September. They didn't extend it to the end of October
until 1962.)

According to Wikipedia, which references a website on the program, it was the same Jay...

Welk and the boys played the Aragon Ballroom until it was torn down;
after that they played the Hollywood Palladium (JFK got use of that
facility one Saturday night in October 1961 in order to defend his policies
on Cuba--a year before the missile crisis).

Jerry Lewis also did his short-lived ABC Saturday-night show live at
6:30 PT in order to air in the East at 9:30 (Welk was pushed back to
8:30 ET to accommodate him).
