I imagine that KSPR would have become a Fox affiliate had they not been owned by Lorimar-Telepictures & if the owners of KMTC (Meyer Communications) hadn't been so dead set on running that TV station on a shoestring budget, or at least had more money to keep ABC happy.
 
On KSPR 33, isn't the 6:00 pm - Newhart actually The Bob Newhart Show? I thought Newhart didn't come into syndication until either 88 or 89.
Yes, 1988. I actually saw an ad for
Newhart beginning it's Syndie
run on WOFL in Orlando, Florida
in either The Lakeland Ledger or
The Ocala Star-Banner, one of the
two, as archived on Google News
Archive. So, in 1984, yes it would
have been The Bob Newhart Show.
