Retro: This Week in TV Guide, May 2, 1981 - MSP Edition

This week, Cathy Lee Crosby headlines That’s Incredible (and though she might not be incredible, but she’s pretty good), the horses run for the roses at Churchill Downs, Dan Rather gets bad news about his popularity, public broadcasting uses the auction gavel to raise money, and more!

As always your comments, positive as well as negative, are most welcome.

This week’s listing comes from Friday, May 8. Until I saw these listings, I’d completely forgotten about the old John Davidson show, which was supposed to groom him as Mike Douglas’ replacement. Didn’t work, did it? And look at that – an early TV appearance by Dr. Laura! Let’s see what else was on TV the day I celebrated by 21st birthday.

A rare night off from sports for KMSP during the spring of 1981. KMSP was the OTA home of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota North Stars. At this time the North Stars were on a run to the Stanley Cup Finals and during the period of this TV Guide the Stanley Cup Semi-Final series was going on. However on this night the series was off as the teams were traveling back from Calgary with Minnesota leading the best of 7 series 3-2.(They would win the series the next night)
