When did WTVK (now WVLT) move from Ch. 26 to Ch. 8?

I believe it was December of '88 when WTVK moved to 8 and became WKXT with the
channel switch. They became WVLT in early 1997. Ch. 26 in Knoxville is now the digital
channel for WATE-TV.
