'Innocence Lost.' In 1989, Bob Kelly and his wife, Betsy, the owners of the Little Rascals day-care center in Edenton, NC, were arrested along with two of their employees and a town resident, for the alleged sexual abuse of children. More arrests followied in 1990. In all, the defendants, who will be tried individually, were charged with 429 offenses. The first trial-Bob Kelly's-is is scheduled to begin in June. This anatomy of the case includes interviews with lawyers involved in the case, parents who claim that their children were abused and several of the defendants, the Kellys among them. The two-hour program also examines the case's impact on Edenton (pop. 6000). Says one man: "It just shattered our picture of our lives."

This was shortly before KOTV dropped The Bold and the Beautiful and pushed back CBS This Morning to 8 AM in favor of more local news. Those changes may have been closer to 1993 and not necessarily at the same time...memory is fuzzy. KTEN was still a full-on hybrid NBC-ABC affiliate.
