Retro TV comming to KEYE HD-2

I hope RTN is better programmed than TVLand!

Maybe Houston Channel 39 KHCW can get RTN on its second digital channel to replace "The Tube" video network that KHCW-DT 2 was carrying before "The Tube" abruptly went out of business.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. 39.2 was carried by Comcast when The Tube was still on.

at first, you had me going yeah. i like the older programs like mission impossible, perry mason, twilight zone and others.

jras, i looked at the keye site and copied this:

I hope they make it also. I like the idea of more channels on HDTV, but its hell to DX if you dont have a good UHF antenna and not in the 41db gain.

KCBD TV subchannel (Was: Retro TV comming to KEYE HD-2)

Note to Dan Jackson at KCBD TV in Lubbock: PLEASE BRING THIS STATION TO LUBBOCK!!!!

i been tuning in to the station myself, i wonder are they going to put it on over the memorial day holiday weekened.

Could they be looking for a cable TV rollout as well as OTA? That's what's holding up KAZT in Prescott/Phoenix AZ, which was supposed to start RTN on Feb. 1st, but is waiting for a cable channel to come open, which may not happen until Sept. 1st.

well, I say give us WX/radar, traffic cams, or just turn it off and give the b'width back to CBS programming until it's ready to launch.

I've been hearing some good things about the Retro Television Network, they have a webste at www.retrotelevision.net and they have a list of the programs that are offered by the network. It would nice if one of the stations here in Dallas-Fort Worth would pick it up and put it one of their digital channels.

And they're up! As of 10:18 AM, Leave it to Beaver is on in all it's monochrome glory!

Unfortunately, the compression is HORRIBLE. There's a scene with three kids jumping up and down and the blockiness looks worse than DirecTV on a VERY bad day.

This seems to be a problem for CBS affiliates. The 1080i HD that CBS uses gobbles a lot of bandwidth, which doesn't leave a lot for additional subchannels on the digital signal. The resulting restriction causes a lot of pixelation of high motion video.

Well, I'm now looking at it around noontime Monday and it does look better than earlier. Pixelation seems mostly gone, but the picture is real, REAL smooth. This is on a 12" Sony PVM series monitor. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like on my 46" Sony LCD at the house this evening ;D.
