My understanding is that CHEK relayed News Hour from CHAN until 1972, when it launched its own newscast for Vancouver Island. As such, the two stations were known as "8 & 6" at the time. I didn't realize News Hour went that far back though.

They were at that time, the listing read [6][8] News Hour, with Cameron Bell as the 6pm anchor.
