6-Dream House

This would have to be a typo; WBRC had its noon newscast well underway by 1969.

PS - Dream House was an interesting production.  I've seen the one B/W kinescope episode that's on the trade circuit, and it had what to me is the perfect theme music for a game show parody .... a bizarre and haunting minor-key "think music" cue ... and when contestants buzzed in to answer, the camera zoomed in on them with a jolting speed.  Would love it if more eps could be unearthed.

I believe this game's demise was brought on by allegations that zero of the houses won on the show were ever completed ... construction issues, or whatever.  I'm sure (and hope) somebody else can further enlighten.

PS 2 - I find it VERY odd that Ch. 13 picked up the CBS Morning News at 8:30, after "Cousin Cliff" packed up and moved his act to Anniston.

President Richard Nixon made his famous "silent majority" speech to the American people regarding the Vietnam War that evening, so the prime time lineup didn;t excatly go as planned. This was followed by network commentary, which prompted Vice-President Spiro Agnew to go on the attack. One week later, he spoke in Des Moines and attacked the news media.

TV Guide ran an article in the summer of 1969 about the fact
that none of the houses won on "Dream House" had been completed.
The show offered a $40,000 (late-'60s dollars) home plus $7000 to
purchase land; several of the winning couples had to borrow more than
$7000 to buy land. The show changed its rules to allow winners to take
$20,000 in cash in lieu of the house, but the damage was done, and "All
My Children" replaced "Dream House" on January 5, 1970.

I think, IIRC, that WBRC had indeed started its noon newscast by this
time; I know that it never aired "All My Children" at 12 N (CT), and that
ABC33/40 finally put it--and now "The Chew"--in pattern around 2006.

The Channel 13 listing at 8:30 seemed a little bizarre to me, too. I was in 4th grade at the time, and I don't remember what I would have watched on those days that we were out of school.

Did Bill Bolen leave Channel 42 to go to Channel 6 about the time they started their noon newscast? I vaguely remember someone from 42 doing a testimonial to him on his last day at 42.
