7 8 American Film Institute Salute to Orson Welles
Special: Orson Welles receives the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award. In 1941, Welles produced, directed, co-authored and starred in 'Citizen Kane,' a feat that won the precocious 26-year-old the title of Hollywood's enfant terrible. Some 40 films later, Welles remains a dominant figure in the industry. Highlighting the program are clips from some of Welles' best films, including 'Citizen Kane,' 'The Magnificent Ambersons,' 'Othello' and 'Falstaff: Chimes at Midnight.' At press time, celebrities scheduled to honor Welles include host Frank Sinatra, Charlton Heston, Ingrid Bergman, Edgar Bergen (with Charlie McCarthy), Joseph Cotten, Janet Leigh and Dennis Weaver.
