Thanks for sharing! Can't believe that the first on to sign on was KOMO at nearly 8am! KTVW had their Swing Shift Theater, like I've shown in other Western WA listings. News was 10-15 min long at night! Now it's 35 min at 11pm, and KIRO (which went on in 1958) now has 1 1/2 hours of local news in the early evening.

"Dick" Ross on KING's late news was Richard Ross... better known for his many years as an anchor in Portland at KGW-TV and KATU.

Sam Rinaker, who was the first anchorman at KTNT-TV, jumped ship for KIRO-TV when that station signed on in '58 and was their news director for a couple of years.
