Wow! Did their Saturday mornings start late or what! I can tell you now that in July of 1971, KABC-7 in Los Angeles was on earlier in the morning on Saturdays, and I very much suspect (though we hadn't rented a Phoenix house yet) that KTVK-TV 3 was also starting earlier on that date as well.

Also, I note that the 10pm news listed was "ABC News." Usually, at that time of day, it was local news that aired that late in the evening.

ABC and CBS ran 15 minute late night network newscasts on Saturdays and Sundays for many years. I think they ended by sometime around the late 1980s/early 1990s. Having said that, I would've expected WLS-TV to have aired a 15 minute local newscast within that half hour. I don't think the network newscast would've run the entire half hour...
