Retro: Yakima WA area cable lineups, 1983

Copied from a Yakima Herald Republic microfilm print. Can you believe it has been 32 years since the Yakima Valley watched all of THIS on cable?!
There were two systems, four lineups - Cox Cable Yakima, and McCaw Cablevision for Yakima, Selah and the Lower Valley (Sunnyside, Toppenish, Wapato etc). In terms of channels and variety, Cox was the best; in terms of distant stations, McCaw Yakima.

COX YAKIMA
2 KAPP Yakima ABC (and still on Charter cable ch 2 today)
3 C-SPAN
4 KNDO Yakima NBC (and still on Charter cable ch 4 today)
5 Spotlight (long defunct premium cable channel owned by Times-Mirror. Only showed theatrical movies, no specials)
6 KIMA Yakima CBS (and still on Charter cable ch 6 today)
7 24 Hour Time & Weather, Program Guide (Very early form of the EPG?)
8 KYVE Yakima PBS (and still on Charter cable ch 8 today)
9 Swap & Shop (not sure how this channel worked - probably just rolling classifieds + music?)
10 Christian Broadcasting of Yakima/CBY (still on Charter cable ch 10 today)
11 Skill Center (must be YVTech)
12 Yakima Community Programming (would be known as YCTV - later moved to channel 21, and now up in the 190s on Charter Spectrum digital. They still play 1980s and early 1990s community productions.)
13 Yakima Educational Programming (probably Yakima School District ITV shows, etc.)
14 Weather Channel
15 The Nashville Network (as of the listing, was just about 2 months old, and still owned by WSM Inc. Gaylord wouldn't take it over until fall 1983)
16 KSTW 11 Tacoma IND
17 WTBS Atlanta GA IND
18 ESPN
19 Headline News (but the listings still says CNN2 - it was changed to Headline News in Jan 1983)
20 MTV
21 Cinemax
22 SIN (Spanish International Network, now Univision)
23 USA Network
24 CNN
25 Satellite Programming Network/SPN (and I WILL share listings from this channel soon)
26 HBO
27 (Not listed in lineup) Cable Health Network, based off listings
28 Satellite News Channel ("Give us 18 minutes, we'll give you the world." Would go defunct in October 1983)

MCCAW CABLEVISION YAKIMA
2 Showitme
3 Metro Data -Community News and NOAA Weather
4 KOMO Seattle ABC (the only cable system and lineup to have KOMO in the Yakima Valley)
5 KNDO Yakima NBC
6 CHEK Victoria BC CTV
7 KIMA Yakima CBS
8 CBN Cable
9 KYVE Yakima PBS (Notice they make it look like Seattle...4 ABC, 5 NBC, 7 CBS, 9 PBS!)
10 KAPP Yakima ABC
11 KSTW Tacoma-Seattle (After signoff, pickup WTBS Atlanta GA. So the legendary Superstation WTBS was only seen in the overnight hours)
12 ESPN
13 CNN
20 HBO (Wonder what 14-19 were used for, because they are not listed.)
21 Cinemax

MCCAW CABLEVISION SELAH
2 Nickelodeon (The only cable system to offer this network in the Yakima Valley. ARTS was still time-shared on the transponder with Nickelodeon, until Jan 1985.)
3 Showtime
4 KYVE Yakima PBS
5 KNDO Yakima NBC
6 ESPN
7 KIMA Yakima CBS
8 CBN Cable
9 KAPP Yakima ABC
10 WTBS Atlanta GA IND
11 KSTW Tacoma IND
13 CNN

MCCAW CABLEVISION LOWER VALLEY
2 KNDO Yakima NBC
3 HBO + CNN (I suppose CNN was on during the day, HBO at night)
4 KIMA Yakima CBS
5 KAPP Yakima ABC
6 CHEK Victoria BC CTV
7 KYVE Yakima PBS
8 WTBS Atlanta GA IND
9 WGN Chicago IL IND (The only cable system to offer "Chicago's Very Own" in the Yakima area.)
10 CBN Cable
11 KSTW Tacoma IND
12 ESPN
13 USA Network
