This is hilarious- I may have very well been working the overnight shift (ending at about 7 am or so) at KCPQ this weekend. I did Saturday and Sunday (or was it Friday and Saturday?) overnights for quite a while in the very late 80's and early '90's. Warning: That 5 am airing of Headline News may not have been live! We often taped an hour in the middle of the night because we needed the satellite dish for some other program at 5 am.

Speaking of Headline News, wasn't there a straight-on-syndicated version (30 minutes)? KIMA had Headline News at 12PM for many years (they did have a short-lived local newscast, and then went back to CNN) until around 2002. They may have been the last over-the-air station with CNN-HN.
Hope you enjoyed watching Monsters and Friday the 13th; etc.
