"The Night that Panicked America." (1975) When a young Orson Welles (Paul Shenar) decides to adapt H.G. Wells' novel "The War of the Worlds" into a radio play, he does such a realistic job of it that many listeners actually believe that Martians have invaded the United States. While Welles and his cohorts create the drama in a broadcast booth, we simultaneously see a couple in New Jersey, a network executive, a farm boy and a minister all react with varying degrees of shock and anxiety to what they think is the end of the world.

Gus is a beautiful but coarse call girl who claims to have information that makes the two highly expendable targets. Ben starts to believe her after numerous attempts are made to kill them as they travel across the unforgiving desert, pursued by angry bikers and corrupt police officers.

"Legend of the Lost." (1957) Brit Paul Bonnard (Rossano Brazzi) enlists gruff American Joe January (John Wayne) to help him find a hidden treasure that is worth a fortune. Before long, they are joined by prostitute Dita (Sophia Loren), who is moved by Bonnard's earnestness, and the three embark on a journey through the wild in hopes of finding an ancient lost city. They finally stumble upon the riches, but, after Bonnard feuds with Dita, he angrily takes the jewels and supplies, and leaves his partners to die in the desert.
