Retro: Yuma, Arizona December 14 - 19, 1953

Yuma's first local TV station, KIVA channel 11, signed on October 8, 1953, and the local paper began publishing the station's schedule in mid-December with the radio schedules. The station would sign on with at test pattern at 3:00 PM and start regularly scheduled programming at 4:00 PM. The station went dark January 31, 1970.

DHETT? It's kinda hard to read those graphics. Anyways, I don't think channel 11 of Yuma would return to the air until 1988. They're an NBC station today, but may have signed on as an ABC affiliate?
 
That's my understanding also: KYMA was an ABC affiliate at sign-on in 1988, but apparently, they and KYEL-TV (now KSWT) switched affiliations, (although I'm not certain exactly when,) then KYEL took over the CBS affiliation when KECY-TV went to Fox. Shameless plug: I researched and authored the KIVA Wikipedia article, and all of the KBLU-TV and most of the KYEL-TV history in the KSWT article.

Sorry about the graphics: I thought the teletype font would make it easier to read, as it is a fixed width font, so it lends itself to column tables better. Here it is again, in standard font - hope this is easier for you.
