Retroplex????

Today, the 99x Retroplex = Express Lunch. 13 songs commercial free hoodeedo!!!!

Is this a permanent change or is this a little testbed? Retroplex was my main reason for listening at work. If this is permanent, then I'm listening to Sirius at lunch.

::eyeroll::

What's the chances Steve's contract is running out and a) the Cloud Company doesn't wanna pay him what he's worth; or B) He's found employment elsewhere and isn't going to be around shortly? (Both possibilities pure speculation on my part)

You may know how to escape extradition Johnny but Neil Millman supporter #1, RTibbs, is dead-on.

I called Steve shortly after noon today upon noticing no Retro music being played. He stated playing more music through the lunch hour and still including some of the older stuff. I feel the Retroplex was a long running blast from the past which could have continued with less commercial interuptions if the goal is to play more music without breaks.

Was there any mention Monday in regards to that day being the final edition of the Retroplex as we know it? Anyone know exactly when Steve started up the Retroplex (AKA House of Retro Pleasure)? Seems like about 12-13 years ago. By the way, the final song on Monday's Retroplex was Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)." With 99X being only 2 months away from their 15 anniversary, any speculations as to any other changes which may take place at the station.

Let's put the easy one aside - a station flip. Definitely not out of the question.

As for when the House started, I'm certain it was on in 1995, but I think it was on at least a year earlier than that. I've got an archive (probably 100 hours on hifi vhs, dating between 1993 and 1995) - if I think about it, I'll poke around, just out of curiosity.

I would be shocked if they flip. Everything I hae heard about PPM which will replae the diaries sometime next summer is that Rock stations ratings rise and urban station's decline. I think they stay the status quo and tweak things along the way in anticipation of the PPM. At least you know that is what LEslie is telling her bosses.

Could this be a way of phasing Steve out? He is making WAY too much for a Cumulus employee. Take away the one thing that he owns, Retroplex, and all of the sudden he is replaceable. His ratings haven't exactly been stellar. And I heard he isn't scheduling music anymore so scratch the whole APD angle.

I could see 99X flipping. Their ratings have slipped a considerable amount within the last 5 years.

This statement shows how truly great 99X was. "ratings have slipped in the last five years." Nowadays most stations flip in two books (hyperbole; more like two years). Yet 99X has been going since the early 90's. If they do fall I say they had a great run. Leslie should at least be commended for that.

I don't see a format flip unless they go more 90's and less Fall Out Boy/AFI/All-American Rejects, etc. In the early part of the decade, 99X added a lot of angst rap-metal acts (Limp Bizkit/Tool/Korn) and regretted the decision. I look for a correction rather than a full on flip.

XM's Ricky and Ethel would not like that at all.

You're funny, Neil. But 90% of the readers of this board are probably too young to know what you're talking about.

The three of youse got it. Sales Weasel must not be here today or he would have gotten it. And if 90% didn't get it, I feel sorry for them.
