Return of Gary Bryan

Gary Bryan has been seen around town this past week. Wonder where he'll land. It's common knowledge that he's had a hard-on for KBSG for years now. Wonder if it's all about to come together for him. I think he still own a home here...

Dave Logan was brought in to overhaul the place and even Fastlane has to realize that any morning show ranked in the high teens isn't long for the world.

Is this the "Inside The 60s" Gary Bryan you are referring to?

So it is a little strange that Gary Bryan was seen coming out of Azteca on Eastlake last friday right? If he has no plans to work for KBSG does he just have bad taste in mexican food? I keep in contact with the bartender at Azteca on Eastlake and from what I understand Gary loves Patrone, Mary Wells, and Working for stations that used to be great! Thanks for the info Juan!

That's a great post!

Gary is a major talent and from what I understand owned this market when he was here. He makes mega bucks in LA, so I doubt he would be coming to KBSG. My bet is he is up for a GM slot somewhere in Seattle.

Gary Bryan

I know he's had some success but if you've ever had a face-
to-face conversation with him you realize: nice enough guy but
not the brightest bulb in the room. Have met him a few times
in the past 10 years or so and I was kind of shocked to get the
'doh' vibe every time.

:-\

he's got a certain "doh" vibe that you just can't replicate. I hear he's coming to The Soundies. Doh!

It sure sounds like KBSG is actively looking. Check out this blind ad from All Access. I can't think of many "heritage" stations this would apply to:

NW Morning Show Needed Now
A Pacific Northwest heritage radio station is actively looking for its next morning show. Can you relate to women 35+? Do you have something to talk about even when American Idol isn’t on? Can you be personality without getting in the way of the music? If you can say yes to all three, we want to hear from you.

We’re evolving our format and need a morning show that can take us to the next level. We’ll support you with a major marketing campaign. The weather’s nice despite what everyone says and the coffee is great.

Gary Bryan is a huge talent (gotta be in my top5!)...remember he did mornings at both Z100's, Portland & New York!, as well as KRTH. Also spent many years in Sea/Tac at KNBQ and then KUBE. Even worked at KJR-FM for awhile...would love to see him back in the market! Gary, I even have a brief aircheck of you from KYA San Fran circa 1974. If you want it, PM me.

Gary seems to be popular at K-Earth. They replaced him in morning drive with Hollywood Hamilton for awhile, but he got the job back when Hamilton tanked.

I don't know whether he's bright or not, but I can tell you that he didn't exactly distinguish himself at KFRC (San Francisco) in the early 90s, when he played second banana and straight man to the right wing wild man J.Paul Emerson. The only way to describe Emerson is to compare him to a less articulate Michael Savage with almost no self control. When KFRC finally fired Emerson after making too many racist and homophobic remarks, they kept Gary on solo for awhile, but alone, he seemed to have nothing.

When KSFO began a right wing "Hot Talk" format a year or so later, they tried Emerson in morning drive, but he was so out of control, he only lasted a couple of weeks.

If he's making alot of money down there in market #2, he probably has enough money to fly up here to Seattle for a day anytime he wants, to visit old friends or favorite hangouts, or even places for possible future employment, for whenever his contract runs out down there at K-Earth 101...

Excellent point, Stephen. However, if he does still own property here, and probably when you add up all the years of his career, this is his REAL home. Wouldn't be surprised to hear him back on Seattle radio soon. And that would be good for Seattle radio!
