Rev. TJ Graham on WVOL

So I never listen to the station but decided to tune in and see what TJ Graham was up too. Well I was surprised to here him threatning listeners on the air about his daughter. HE said that he would knock there teeth in if they were talking about her. Telling them to come down to the station and he would knock there teeth in. He had listeners calling calling her a W****, S***** and etc. What kind of show has he got on the air. I thought this was a christian man I mean he is a REVEREND?? I was stunned to hear this. This station definetely is not professional...What is going on here, any insight?

Several problem with this show:

1) Callers are not screened, which leads to the same 6 'regulars' calling in who spout the same crap (racial epithets, comments about the Reverend's weight, etc. etc.)

2) When a caller does try to provoke a thoughtful debate, the Reverend cuts them off in mid sentence if he doesn't agree with it in the slightest.

3) The show really does not meet up to it's title ('Open Forum'). If you listen to the show for any length of time, you will hear the Rev. occasionally say, "This is a dictatorship, not a democracy. This is MY show!" Oh well, it's his show. .

4) Technically, the show is a mess. Levels are inconsistent, hearing half the conversation some of the time between the host and caller, etc.

If the Rev. would use a call screener (his sometimes co-host Jae Nash could fill this role), a 7 second delay and caller ID block, the show could be taken more seriously.

The show is good in concept, just sloppy (and a joke) in execution.

Weekdays from 11a to 3p CT.

It gets tiresome after you hear the same callers over and over and over. .

But it's like a bad traffic accident. . .you just can't look away. .

there used to be a regular caller to Chris Clark in the early days on channel 5+ who would
almost daily get thru and make a well thought-out comment...but...would always end it by
shouting "ME AND MY MONKEY!"

i.e...."I must agree that a revised Metro tax code would be best for a majority or residents in the area...
but how will this effect ME AND MY MONKEY?"

call Steve Gill and try it

Listened the other day where a caller asked why the Rev. didn't use a call screener or a delay. The Rev. said, "Well, we've looked at a system like that and it would cost $100,000". .

Hmf. . I know of a few call screener programs out there that are free. .

Plus, the most expensive broadcast delay I've seen out there is around $5k. . and that's 80 seconds of delay. .

Yeah. .$100,000 indeed. . .

it's only briefly entertaining...and (to me) only becauare Rev TJ takes the bait of each inflammatory caller
and immediately drops to their level with screaming and throwing back racial slurs.
on second thought...it's really not entertaining at all.
how many hours of this each day? wonder what the hourly rate is at WVOL?

Analog Call Screener Program:
a. someone to answer the phone
b. write callers name in big letters on a piece of paper and hold it up for the host to see it.

I'll do that for $50,000!

romer: The Rev is on from 11a to 3p, although he sits in on Jae Nash's show from 10a to 11a on a daily basis

This morning, Jae Nash is playing music from a laptop holding the laptop up to a microphone.

*facepalm*

Someone wire up an input box to the board with an 1/8" stereo input for her, please!

Yuk. . :-\

Sounds like they are still on the air. . their stream is still happening. .

I have never heard Rev.Graham's program. However, when I travel to Nashville on business, I have frequently enjoyed the music on WVOL. Musically speaking, this station is a treasure among the cesspool of burned out classic hits, classic rock geezer music, and piped-in-on-the-board syndicated yakkers. For such a musically important city, Nashville has one of the most stale, predictable, unappealing radio dials I have ever scanned across. Other than WVOL, and the rare occasion that Lightning 100 isn't playing a crap-tastic Emo song, Nashville is a great place on I-65 to fire up Sirius XM or my CD player. Seriously. Knoxville isn't much better. But by all means, rave on, my fellow banjo pickers... I'm sure that Lynyrd Skynyrd is coming up next on your favorite classic hits station in the "music city" :( Sheesh.

Nashville has one of the most stale, predictable, unappealing radio dials I have ever scanned across. i think a lot off us would argue that point...if we could.. ::)

A radio station in west Tennessee mysteriously burned to the ground back in the early '80s, shortly after changing formats from rock to country. Don't know if an arrest was ever made in that one or not.

It's also worth pointing out that (at the time) they reduced their broadcast day from 24/7 to about 18 hours. The fire was reported at 3:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning!

Listening this afternoon and heard a caller state that the show would have less of the 'riff raff' if the Rev. would screen callers (after hearing the Rev. and 'legit' callers continue to complain about the 'son of a biscuit eaters', as T.J. puts it). The Rev. screamed back at the caller with, "You don't run this show. . I've been doing this for 25 years and I can run the show how I want to. .it's none of your business. . " and so on. .

Baffles me as to what his mindset is. . or he just doesn't care?
