Review - 92.5/The River

I'm going to be reviewing all the major stations in Boston over the rest of this month.

First up - the River. Musically, I can't tell the difference between it and a bunch of other radio stations. But ratings-wise, it is embarassing the next station on my list, WBOS.

Could you listen to these stations for more than 5 minutes before making these reviews?
I find all your reviews to be off the mark.

That's a review?

That is a far cry from a review.

All your reviews (for stations that play music) can be "they play the same thing".

I used to work at the River. The biggest issue I had in working there was the feeling I got that they were "okay" with where they were. They never seemed to want to get out there. I'd work a saturday evening and the station van would be parked there.

Oh well.

I am a fan of the River's music usually. With the exception of Bob Stuart, I am not a fan of the air staff--particularly the newest morning show host-person.

Ah, but that new morning show host is the program director, so it is unlikely that he will hire someone else for mornings. He sounds like an old guy who would be perfect for hosting a big band station or the "Music of Your Life," but his delivery is too dead for the River. Bob Stuart sounds exactly like Bob Marrone who was once at WNEW, WPLJ, WLIR and others. The same voice, the same cadence, the same kind of comments. If I didn't know better, I would think it was Marrone. I like Bob Stuart. He's knowledgeable and comfortable.

These station reviews are not reviews at all but negative opinions of some aspect of each station. A review would have more meat to it, more examples.

And why wouldn't it be? AAA's audience is primarily 30 & 40somethings...not exactly the crowd that's out hitting the clubs on Saturday night. I'd guess that most people in their demo are at home watching tv. My guess is that their promotion time/budget would be better spent on after-work events.
