the people I know who listen to rap are white boys in the suburbs who are trying (and succeeding) at driving their parents crazy. Bad grammar, calling women ho's, threatening to kill police, are all surefire ways to do this, which work well because they don't involve tattooing or piercing in visible places that will in any way endanger their future employment as investment bankers or executives in media corporations when they finish with their rebellious period (which is directly related to the period of time their parents subsidize them + 1 year).
These kids have PLENTY of spending $$$. And, they also know grammar, as does rapking, I suspect. Hence my plea.
Besides, rap started as loving the language, rhythm with the words, saying the same 'ol in a new way, with a beat, didn't it? The first rappers could do it off the top of their heads, brilliant improvisation (yeah, I'm old enough to remember). It went down hill when any old yahoo who could find a rhyme and 'dared' say something about someone's mama could get a record deal, and the record dealers' sons, craving for attention, started buying it.
Bring rap back to what it was, I say.
