Review-Journal Article About AM/FM Simulcasts In Las Vegas

An interesting article in today's Las Vegas Review-Journal about the growing phenomenon of AM stations simulcasting on FM signals - especially in Vegas:
http://www.lvrj.com/neon/am-stations-try-to-seduce-fm-listeners-via-simulcasts-114264489.html

Among the quips in the article: an editor at a radio trade magazine says AM is "aging", while the PD of KXNT uses the word "detriment" when describing the AM half of the simulcast. So, basically, it's an article that trashes the AM band, early and often. At least that's how I read it.

Thanks for posting the article. I didn't get the impression that Bob Agnew was trashing AM. He just said that KXNT-FM was "not to the detriment" of the AM. Although it could be argured that it actually was since the FM basically took half their AM audience without adding any additional share to KXNT.

I hope he's wrong but my hunch is that Scott Gentry's grim prediction for the future of AM will prove to be correct.
