Revised Monroe Predictions

Okay guys... I'm changing my picks slightly.

1. The Beat
2. Majic 97
3. K-104
4. The Party
5. LA-105/Rock 106/Sunny 98.3 (very close or tie)

The only change I made was bump Majic from 3 to 2 and K-104 from 2 to 3.

Any thoughts? We get advances at 11AM.

Personally I don't think K104 will be at number 3, and don't look for Rock 106 to be in the top 5. But thats just my personal speculations, I may be wrong. I guess we will all know the real deal tommrow.

My Predictions - 12 plus

1. The Beat
2. Majic 97
3. K-104
4. The Party
5. LA-105
6. KNOE
7. Sunny 98.3
8. Rock 106
9. KRJO
10. KMLB

Well... Here's the advance ratings info (I omitted the share as they can't be posted on this forum)

1. The Beat/KRVV (Up)
2. K-104/KJLO (Up)
3. Majic 97/KJMG (Up)
4. LA-105/KLIP (Up)

A little bias Chris? The numbers I look at show Majic flat as well as Party. And correct me if I'm wrong, but if Party is down in some demos, they would have to be up in others to be flat. Your bias is blinding.

Actually, you are incorrect and correct. Majic is flat... That is my bad. We went up well 25-54 and I thought the 12+ was up as well. Party is down 18-34, 18-49, and way down 25-54. You're right, they had to go up somewhere. Majic went up where it counted (25-54). If I was guessing, Party went up 12-17 or 54+... You call it, but neither matters. You can say what you wish, but for The Beat to go up again to a 21.3 (not to mention #1 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54), I deserve to be as biased as I would like. We are on a 3 book uptrend. Getting better every survey since Party signed on. I'm proud of what my team has done. Good day sir.

I am a bit surprised to see K104 jump back, I had a feeling that ROCK 106 would go down some, but not near as much as they did. I'm also surprised that the Party didn't increase. I didn't see KXKZ coming back up. That station has such potential, and thats all I'm going to say. It looks like country overall did a see-saw effect. And congratulations to Bobby over at KNOE for their increase. The GM must have been out of the office alot this book.

You seem to know all the other numbers, but you're guessing as to where The Party went up? You do deserve props for the nice book and I must admit that you are surprising everyone with your uptrend for the last 3 books. I would dare even say you surprised yourself a little bit this book with your earlier predictions. Not saying you are, as we've never met...but remember, nobody likes an ******. Good day to you as well....

Actually freek, I'm a really nice guy. Just didn't like the bias thing. As far as party, I KNOW they were down 18-34, 18-49, 25-54... By process of elimination, they either rose 12-17 or 54+. That's not a guess, it's a fact.

And, you are once again correct. I did surprise myself. I'm starting to wonder if I'm a better PD with comp than without. I think I subconciously try harder. Oh well... Later.

Chris

I know I'm not in Monroe anymore but I have been reading these post that everyone is posting and wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

The top 4 positions in Monroe belonged to the Radio People...congratulations! Their only stations left were their AM stations. Up or down, sideways or backwards, they are the dominant station group in the market.

I am very disappointed in Opus. They have made changes just like the two past owners all hoping to take a piece of the pie away from the Radio People. Sunny 98.3 is their only "ray of light". Someone, time, circumstance has managed to "crumble" Rock 106. The Party has been a "flop" and has had zero impact on the Beat. KMYY Country lost to a station in Ruston...ouch. I couldnt think of anything corny for the country station. Oh well.

To the Opus staff and owners...what happened? What changes will be made since it is obvious that there are problems that must be solved? Maybe I am wrong...is the revenue there despite the ratings?

Thats it for me...

note to tvland...bring back wkrp!!!</P>

Hey Chris, still in Alabama. Bought a house and pretty much settled in. Not too much going on...just hanging out around town and staying busy. I took another sales job when I arrived here and it has worked out pretty good so far.

In my spare time I have been helping out at a radio station and a tv station. I cant afford to work for them full time! I would love to though.

Check out the ratings for Montgomery, AL. We had a new Gospel station debut on a 100kw FM signal, in its first book it became #1 in the market. Sounds weird and funny to have a religious station as #1. I wonder how this would go over in Monroe if Opus were to flip country or party to gospel. Demographically Monroe and Montgomery are similar...Montgomery just has more people...it could work.

Of course he was out of the office. Highschool football is about to start and he needs to leave work to get the inside scoop from all the coaches so he can be the #1 source for HIGH SCHOOL football info in NE LA. His friends think he is soooo cool because he knows whats going on eveyhwhere. And he uses company time and probably money to find this stuff out. We know he uses it for other things "including his son". During the couple of months I worked there I noticed him doing this a LOT. But I guess it is for the best because when he leaves Bobby alone the station starts to climb. George... You know what to do.
