Revolution on NBC

As my daughter said "Not another post-apocalypse show". No Zombies anyway :) My wife however, likes the show.

I could probably do without the conspiracy theory. But then I am not sure what would drive the plot.

Best post-apocalypse novel - "Earth Abides". Still good today.

My wife and I watched the first episode and have the second one on DVR; which we plan to watch tonight.

The jury is still out (at our house) on whether this program is any good or will last one season.

We both liked Jerico and looked what happened to that show. ::)

I enjoyed the first episode - haven't seen the second yet. I will stay with it for now. A lot of it depends on how the plot is advanced over the weeks. Sometimes these episodic shows start to bore me, and I give up. In a few cases (The Wire, and Lost), I got bored, but tried them out again a season or two later (DVDs or reruns), and ended up getting engaged. Perhaps I'm fickle... ;D

It kills me that I'm going to miss the great Giancarlo Esposito, but there's no way I'm watching another JJ Abrams show after the "Lost" fiasco.

Prediction: "Revolution" will add layers and layers of questions but never provide any answers -or- provide answers that are patently ridiculous and/or logically inconsistent. This is Abrams stock-in-trade: coming up with a really good premise, then losing interest, getting sloppy, and just retconning the hell out of the story.

I would love to see Espostio in a flashback during "Breaking Bad's" finale, but I don't know if Vince Gilligan is interested in that sort of thing.

Giancarlo Esposito is busy lately. Last night he narrated a "Once Upon a Time" special explaining the show.

I liked the first episode but the second didn't impress me all that much. I do like seeing how the power might come back on. Other than that, only if they continue to show faalshbacks of the events right after the blackout will I have something to be interested in.

That woman's computer--the only one we've seen so far in the post-blackout world--reminds me of my early days using computers. Young people have probably never had that experience.

Reminded me of the Hatch computer on Lost!

Revolution, in my opinion, is a rip-off of Jericho (minus the nuclear holocaust).

For example the government breaks down and there are bands of militia controlling certain portions of the United States. Sound familar?

Then of course there is a small band of people who know the truth, in this case what caused all power to cease functioning. But it will take numerous episodes to find out.

What really turns me off about this series, like most action movies, is the concept that one person with a sword or knife can injure or kill ten or more armed people within a matter of minutes. Granted this is a TV show and dwells on fiction, but “come on”!

Sounds like Jericho meets The Hunger Games

What happened to all of the wind towers? solar panels?

They Lost them. :D

A Jericho that tries for the Walking Dead approaching-the-city-ruins-where-danger-lurks feel. Another NBC bomb. There are no other worthy shows on this network, so as Mark Cuban would say, I'm out.

Now that we are five episodes deep into Revolution, I wanted to resurrect this thread.

I think it has come a long way. Charlie is still annoying but actually killing people will change her. I like the addition of Nora. Nate/Jason is Neville's son was a surprise. Both Miles and Neville continues to be complex characters.

I think the some of the best parts have been the flashbacks. Especially Maggie's story: walking from Seattle to New York City. Then up and down the Eastern seaboard. Then back to Wisconsin. All that time not knowing what happened to her children.

Of course there are several questions and shoulder shrugs. Like even though it Charlie and Miles took a couple of detours which lasted days, they still managed to catch up with Danny and Neville. And how come it's taking so long to get Danny to Monroe?

I'm sticking around for the ride and hopefully will enjoy it.

Revolutions finished the first half of its season, and I thought it ended on a high note. The Matheson Family is reunited and Monroe has the ability to power weapons.

I think they threw too much into the last episode. Charlie barely had the time to soak in that her Mother is alive. This secure facility penetrated somewhat easily. Charlie and Danny escape from the one guard that's watching them. They meetup somehow in this enormous generating station.

The flashbacks continue to impress. Miles and Monroe were actually childhood friends, not just guys who met in the Army. Makes Miles betrayal(?) hurt even more deeply.

There is a lot to look forward to. Including Tom meeting up with Miles.

Anybody else still enjoying Revolution?

Gil promised me the revolution would not be televised.

Similarly - in most action movie and TV gun battles, even when you have one hero against a dozen bad guys, only the hero can manage to shoot straight and actually hit anybody. Even though the dozen bad guys fires hundreds of rounds at the hero, not a single bullet hits him.

The otherwise great Sons of Anarchy is the prime example of this. In real life, all of the bikers would have been killed in the second or third episode of the first season.

I remember "COMBAT!" being like that, and that my older brother and friends...must have been 1965-ish, made fun of that very element.

I'm not crazy about the show any more, but any progress toward getting the power back on or explaining why it went out is a positive.

I haven't seen it this week. Unfortunately, the Panthers were scheduled to play "Monday Night Football" (Yay! They finally won again!) and my NBC station was obligated to carry the broadcast. I saw a commercial explaining how to see "The Voice" and "Revolution". Amazingly, they aired "Revolution" last night at 7. That's two nights in a row of offending "Wheel of Fortune" viewers. I was fortunate to have another station for "Jeopardy".

But that's a bad thing when you're about to go on hiatus.

Revolution ought to remind Lost fans of that show (Minus the plane crash & paradise island of course) IMO.....

As for those who think it's going by way of the DoDo Bird like Last Resort seems to have done on ABC, don't count on it (I'm not convinced it will)

JMO though.....

Cheers & 73 :D
