Rewind shout out

I would like to give a cheer to ReWind 94.9 for their music format. It’s not easy covering almost 40 years of music, as a matter of fact; no other station could walk that delicate line or even get away with it except for the possibility of WARM 98.

No other era in time could anyone do that but they lucked out. From the 70’s version of Lady Marmalade to Carly Rae Jepson. I can turn the radio on at a back yard picnic and no one would complain.

As I said this is a delicate task or a shark jump that is not working for DJO. How can you go from Shake, Rattle and Roll from Bill Haley to Deep Purple and Hush or Hocus Pocus by Focus? The “sound” of music differed a lot from 1954 to 1970.

I attempted this with a Country format and it worked OK but I knew where to draw the line. The younger rockers did not want to hear Tammy Wynette from the 60’s.

So again I congratulate 94.9. And as for you guys at 100.3, I’m going to miss my MOJO but I found a new home at ReWind..

Hubbard is doing well in Cincy as well with the awesome Q102. Nice to see a live, local station this day in age. The entire staff is great. Jeff, Jenn, Fritsch, Holly, Brian, Laura, and JonJon all do an outstanding job. THANK YOU!!! :)

Personally, except for the thin music library, I liked Rewind better before they tweaked it. Now, the presentation is just a bit too "soccer mom-ish" for my taste. Neither of the two female air personalities sound "fun" on-air. Both would be more suited for Soft AC. The gold catagory on the station still rotates too fast. If I hear "Gypsy" by Fleetwood Mac, or "Somebody's Baby" by Jackson Browne, I know I'm listening to Rewind, without even looking.

Yes. A thumbs up to Q102 as well. That's because the staff and format is stable. They're not always trying something new every year. Brian, for instance has been there for 25 years.

Well Stereo - One of my biggest complaints about ALL the stations are the thin music library.

Everyone rotates about 500 oldies and maybe 15 to 20 new stuff. After a couple of days, if you're a regular listener, you've heard it all. This goes to ALL stations. Thank you consultants.

Rewind is not bad. I do wish they could have more personality, but PPM won't allow the on air jocks talk for more than 30 seconds which is a shame since it would be nice to have them cut loose once in awhile.

Only people who listen for massive amounts of time each day care about this, assuming your music is rotating correctly. (Many stations screw up in this area.) The people who listen for long periods of time are greatly appreciated by the stations as heavy users, but are usually in the extreme minority in the audience.

I remember my first taste of working at a larger market. I had better play the right songs at the right time and my 30 seconds on the air had better be something from a written card.
Also in two years time we went from carts to CDs to computer (Proffit System). I used to hear about it when they finally figured out that I put everything on manual so I had more control. That's when I said, "this is no longer fun."

Oh sorry. This was supposed to be about ReWind HA
Also Jason, I know that you've been PD in large markets. No offense
