Rewind type format--Could it work in Dallas?

So apparently 100.3 in Chicago reimaged and is now "Rewind 100.3", Best of the 80s & more, along the lines of sister station Rewind 94.9 in Cincinnati. I wonder if Dallas would have a shot at this chance & if so, what station would fit. Thoughts?

Yeah. I grew up in Chicago and saw 100.3 through the years go through a plethora of changes like Mega has done now. I just checked their ratings (100.3) and they are at 15th. WREW Cincinnati is at #6. I do not think we have any Bonneville stations in the market, do we?

Bonneville once owned KAFM/KZPS-92.5 and KAAM-1310 here, and once KAAM was sold, they ended up with The Edge briefly, IIRC. When KAFM was Top 40 in the mid-80s, Mormon-owned Bonneville had all the "objectionable" parts of songs edited out. One I recall offhand is Night Ranger's "When You Close Your Eyes (Do You Dream About Me)" where the line, "Remember when we learned about love in the back of a Chevrolet" was changed/looped to say, "Remember when we learned about love as we danced the night away." ::) Even the Dallas Times-Herald wrote an article about it and the idea of kid-proofing music.

80s stations have succeeded elsewhere, though not consistently and not over a long period of time, but the format CAN make money. For here, all we'll likely ever have that resembles an 80s station is Jack-FM. I suggest getting XM/Sirius and making good use of the 80s channel and one called "First Wave" (older New Wave--early to mid-80s.)

No we don't

Would CBS even attempt a format like that? My thinking is no, but you never know. As far as I know Mega's ratings are pretty bad.

Or maybe 105.3 The Fail

KLUV is playing more 80's stuff than ever these days. KVIL plays quite a bit (as they have for a while) & I believe KEOM is playing more 80's.

I like the idea but we already have a lot of 80's on the dial. Of course, the same could be said for the endless New Country stations...

I forgot about the fan. Needless to say, would be interesting to see if it occurred (and was given enough time to succeed truly, how it would do. The Cincinnati one at # 6 is doing well, and on my last trip I listened to it the whole time it was there. It was extremely well programmed and had contests to things in the area. I think if it were to be programmed correctly it would stand a chance.

Even with all the 80's type music stations that are on the dial now, if CBS were to try that on 105.3 "The Fail", it might work. it owuld be something different. They would have to adjust Jack FM a little.

Jack Would BE kinda Stuck between a Rock and a hard place. With KLUV playing more 80's adding a station that played only 80's Jack would have nearly no where to go. I think after a number of years Jack's can be locally programmed. Why not make Jack 80's centric?

What about KVIL?
