For those who outside the New York area, WABC runs old restored airchecks of it's music radio era each Memorial Day.

It (maybe) worth mentioning that, if adjusted for inflation, WABC had the same billings it had in say, 1968 it would be earning 3-4 times it's current take.

It'll also be interesting to hear how this sounds with an IBOC radio this year. Depending on what happens around here, I will try to record all or most of it and post links later-on.

Sister station (then and now) WLS in Chicago is following Musicradio 77's lead with it's own rewind this year.
They will also broadcast online with their own legendary personalities. WLS had nighttime listeners across much of the country back in the day (including Dick Biondi, who also worked at Buffalo's WKBW) but WCBS mostly blocked them out in the tri-state area. WLS was similar to ABC in some ways, different in some. But for fans of AM Top 40 radio, it's worth checking out, as well.

The weekend programming on WABC is mostly a waste and they, like most talk stations, lose most of their listeners on weekends. WABC, and other talk stations, should follow the example of NJ 101.5 and "rewind" all weekend, every weekend. NJ 101.5 has listeners on the weekends and judging by the spot load, they make money on the weekend (with programming, not brokered shows and infomercials).
