Tejano radio station will air in March
To the editor:
Don’t fret, Hector Gonzalez (Radio: Don’t let the Tejano music die; Feb. 24) A newly forming radio station that will be playing all those that you mentioned along with everything from the past to the present traditional tejano will begin transmitting on or about March 1. Obviously there was someone out there that heard our pleas. So stay tuned to KVJY 840 AM around March 1 and you will be pleasantly surprised! I know people say "AM radio is too lousy or too shabby," but sources say it’ll be digital and have better clarity — such that it will cover the entire Rio Grande Valley to Laredo and Sarita. How’s that for quality? And for the record, thank you to those co-owners of the newly forming station — you are heaven-sent! The only thing we will have to do now is work in UNISON to support it to the fullest and make it a BIG success! Since this is what WE’VE been praying for for a long time!
Deniece Rivera,
Weslaco
Will KVJY AM be going IBOC? Woudln't they be better off just to flip both 840 AND 102.1 ? The only stations in the RGV doing digital right now seam to just be all the Clear Channel stations.
Edited by freqgeek on 02/27/06 10:05 PM.
