RGV loses it one and only sports station?

Border Media had already sold the rest of the valley cluster to Bravo Media. I guess Bravo didn't want KSOX, a 1kw AM on 1240.

That's so sad. That was actually a decent little station at one time in history. Ancient history, yes. But still, it was decent.

So KSOX joins KRIO and KRGV on the scrapheap. Well, at least KURV is apparently making a living as a talker.

Don't forget Paulino Bernal's KUBR. And I think KVJY on 840 and a couple of AM's in Reynosa are also brokering Spanish religious.

One rumor making the rounds in the RGV has ESPN moving to 840. Another has 840 going to Fox Sports

It would be great if 840 picked up sports programming either from Fox Sports or ESPN. It has a much better signal all over the RGV. I'm actually surprised BMP didn't put it there to begin with.

Where did you find this information? You're almost always right, and I have no reason to doubt you. I just haven't been able to find any information on Border Media selling anything other than KSOX. Also, have any other Border Media stations been sold to Bravo? I remember hearing they'd sold KWOW-FM, but that was the only divestiture I'd heard about until this one.

Well, I'm glad there will still be some kind of sports radio in the RGV. But the Monitor article (at least to me) wasn't clear.

KSOX will stop airing the Fox Sports Programming. Collins is unsure how long the licensing process will take.

Texas Longhorn football will still be carried by the station. In addition, Collins said the station will carry 96 NFL games through Westwood Radio, which includes several Dallas Cowboys games. The station will air all the NFL playoff games, including the Super Bowl.

Does "the station" mean that KSOX will have UT football, or is the paper referring to 840?

I would imagine UT Football would also relocate to 840 as 1240 will no longer be in the hands of BMP.
