KVLY 107.9 has a low quality sound...I dont know if anyone can shine some light on the situation.

Power was out in much of the Rio Grande Valley, KGBT and some of the other Univision stations are on the air with generators.

Cluster owners apparently see that as an expsense that has very little payoff.
They're bottom line conscious not public service conscious.

When Beulah hit in 1967 every station in the Valley had a news department to spearhead their coverage. What a difference deregulation made.

Weren't the clear channel stations broadcasting Channel 5? I was watching Channel 5 here in Austin online, and when the power finally went out in Weslaco, they stated that they were broadcasting on the Clear Channel stations.

Channel 5 was giving updates on the Clear Channel stations (that's something they normally do in the mornings anyway), but the radio stations had their own DJs on most of the time. They even played a few songs from time to time. At one point I heard Tim Smith say that if our power went out we could still catch updates on the Clear Channel stations. And sure enough the power went out.
