Rhodes gone from Air America?

I've heard that Randi Rhodes will do a daily show on the Salem Radio Network and convert to becoming a conservative after she leaves AAR. Then she'll be very popular.
 
It's official. She left AAR. Here's the press release:

Last week Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for abusive, obscene language at a recent public appearance in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.

Air America Media was informed last night by Ms. Rhodes that she has chosen to terminate her employment with the company. We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America.

We will soon announce exciting new talent and programming that will accelerate Air America’s growth in the future.

Rhodes' site now redirects to AAR.
 
She chose to end it? That is pretty admirable of her to walk over them shutting her down.

So here are my questions:

1. Who know? I am guessing Hartmann or Maddow, both painful and very different from Rhodes.
2. Could she get an Imus bounce?

I would expect Maddow to take over the shift. Works better with her TV committments. Hartmann will stay put in his current slot.

Rhodes will resurface quickly. Green 960 has already said she'll be on next Monday, and I'm sure her South Florida homebase stations (WJNO in WPB and WINZ in Miami) will carry her. As for who will syndicate, my money's on Nova M. She's got very good friends over there that will let her do what she wants, without the meddling that AAR did.

AAR is completely screwed. They've been pushing her hard over the past year, and even lined up affiliations for her show alone. As of late, they've been re-running her next day in morning drive on their web feed. Now they have two prime slots to fill.
 
Put a fork in AAR. It will now become the liberal equivalent of the Genesis Communications Network, one step away from having shows hosted by people from their bathrooms on in prime time. They having no morning or afternoon show, boring talents the rest of the day, no leadership, no farm system, and have only gone downhill since early 2005.

Maddow is excruciating to watch on TV. Nothing political about it, she's just smug and annoying and she has no reason to be. For whatever reason, AAR loves this no-talent loon whose top radio experience before going national was some college station or LPFM in BFE Vermont. Write it down: AAR will sift further and further into irrelevancy as a play toy for a musical chairs roster of guys with a couple million bucks who think it'd be cool to play radio.

You may be on to something.

Rumor has it that she's scheduled for a Sean Hannity-style lobotomy on Monday.

After that, she'll be all set.

Death prediction # 3,138 for Air America. (Someone should really write these down.) They have no morning show because they've (smartly) moved away from the full 24/hour network scheduling they originally tried--a better situation for local affiliates. Boo hoo hoo, Randi's gone from afternoons. What ever will they do? Hire another host. Stations will either clear the show or not, depending upon their needs. AAR hasn't gained what success it has betting on one daypart.

Your personal preference shines through in the last statement. (As if I'm not showing mine...the nerve of me.) Smug and annoying? Sounds like you're describing Glenn Beck, a man more in touch with his own stupidity than one should be.

Rachel Maddow, along with Sam Seder, for that matter are actually AAR's best 'home grown' talents. Both do quite well as solo hosts, as opposed to the 'ensemble' comedy shows they were originally plugged into.
