RI Talk Shows in Review

Love Dan Yorke! We find him so interesting. Had guests last night and
the first thing one guy said was "Who listens to Dan Yorke" The guys all
put up their hands (the girls work in offices and can't listen). I put up
two hands cause I listen to every peep.
They said he was a hoot and very intelligent. The subjects he picks to talk
about are usually local and he's knowledgeable in a lot of areas.
JD used to make fun of him but now things have turned around 98 degrees.

Bless Dan and Matt who's following in his footsteps.

Matt's not following in Dan's foot steps. Matt is a different show altogether and in my opinion better. There is another difference to mention. You can syndicate Matt Nationally. You can't do that with Yorke since Yorke is a one trick pony with only Rhode Island politics on the mind. In essence Matt is more valuable. Personally I find Matt much more entertaining. Every time he does an impression or tells a funny story I literally laugh out loud. Typically nobody else besides STERN can make me do that. Matt's awsome.

dan yorke is defintely more local than arlene,. why has arlene lost her local focus point? iraq is important but not every other day. matt allen is more local than her. Helen is a whole bunch of topics not so much national or local just general topics. Howie is just god awful. If he stutters one more time when he's trying to pronounce someone's name or introduce someone, i may have to chuck my radio out the window. "do you think this is right folks?" "What do you make of this?" Howie form some opinions and take a stand. at least helen is throwing her opinions out there, as is dan and matt and even arlene. hjj is like the titanic its sinking fast and i hope they bring their life jackets

Agree a 1000% missdj. Last Friday was a prime example.
Remember the horrble weather and traffic comditions we were all stuck in last Friday afternoon and evening??
Half the state was stuck in traffic because of that mini blizzard.
Rt 95 was a parking lot, downtown was a parking lot and the Newport and Mt. Hope bridges were closed for a time because of high winds.
Dan Yorke took 4 hours of wall to wall phone calls from people on the roads all throughout the state.
Not only was it very informative, i.e. places to avoid, routes that were good to travel, etc. but it was very entertaining.
What was Arlene talking about? Iraq...then she has her silly roundtable discussion with her stale friends.
She should have stopped that format when Mike Kehew left. She replaced Mike with blowhard Joe Valeno. Where does she find these people and why does she think we care what their opinions are??

Not to oppose the brain trust present in this thread, but it seems that your comments belie what is really happening. According to a source, Arlene has risen above Matt.

Seems the people here have some kind of axe to grind.
