Ric Mitchell To Star 101.3 Mornings

Maybe he can have Kelly Stevens co-host. Assuming that she has figured out Paul has no intention of making her the star she believes that she is.

I can't see how ABC will be too thrilled about this turn of events. Those bloggers on the TU (for the most part) are thrilled that he's coming back. Then there are the cave-dwellers who don't even know what WQAR is. Anyway ABC's recent kick in the pants with 100.9 and all, might be looking for more changes if Ric's return gives the STAR the excitement they're hoping for. One thing is....... nobody listening OTA in any offices in Albany can get 101.3

Does 101.3 show up on any of the area books???

Shows up in the Albany book, its been below 1 share for years, the highest ever 2.4 back when it was 101.3 the jockey WJKE. Stacy Shannon, Mike Finn and Ken McGrail were on the station together back in 1994. John Meaney was there then to doing the morning news. He was let go for not being able to do the news without coughing GM Pete Coughlin let him go.

OhhMeeOhh, Kelly does a good talk show, she takes allot of calls and keeps the topics fresh and moving. She also does a good job as a co-host on a music station, very positive and upbeat. She works very well with a male host.

Don't think Star 101.3 would pay her enough to do it.

No Kelly is not my lady, followed her career from WPTR in the late 70's till present.

Then why did Paul pass her over for Al Roney? You probably have better insight to that than the rest of us. I believe that it was you who said she would have a regular daily talk show a while back. That hasn't materialized.

I always figured that he would end up on Buzz 105.7....Speaking of which...Why are they still on the air????

As luck would have it we have clients...so we have to complete our commitment to them and play their commercials with our current format! And wouldn't you know they keep on coming...more paying customers... Oh, and we seem to be be getting some great listener feedback, go figure!!

With all due respect Mr. Vanness, The ratings aren't there. If I were the OM, I would do a clean sweep of things...Re-evaluate the jocks, the music. Change the format. Speaking of client's. When was the last time The Buzz survey's them? "Why do you like the Buzz"? - "What keeps you coming back"? - "What would you change about the Buzz"?

They do a cluster sell with their sister station WGNA(Rating 9). Buy so much time on WGNA get this much time free on Buzz 105.7 (Rating 2).

As much as I know about the biz, ratings (in general) have always baffled me. Never once have I been involved in radio ratings... or been given a diary or whatever they use these days. Who are these people anyway?? Why is it that the majority of those chosen to participate seem to favor country music? Are these people chosen because of demographics they fall into, or is it completely random? --- which if not the latter, might explain why the same stations are always on top! To me it just seems odd that if it's totally random, that in 1 book, WAJZ might be higher, then in another, it might be WTRY or WFLY. To live and die by ratings has always seemed like more a scam than anything else... especially to stations like The Buzz whom you must imagine is listened to by thousands who'll never have the chance to make their habits heard.

Not to beat a dead horse.......... but one more analogy is the dying smooth jazz format, which 104.9 used to be. That format has an extremely loyal audience. But again, it would seem that most of those involved in filling out diaries, never listened to it... but those that did (and screamed & yelled when the plug was pulled) weren't given the chance to participate.

Can anyone explain? (then i'll shut-up) :-X
