Rich Herrera

Does anybody like him? For such a Rays "insider", he sounds like he has a 3rd grade baseball IQ.. 98.7 can eventaully overtake 620 in this market if they have intelligent hosts who can raise the sophistication of the sports mentality of this town, not another cheesy rah-rah clown..

Herrera is indeed the weak link. As far as the rest of the lineup, it's far from a joke. Say what you will "exboardop", but 10a-2p alone is a huge upgrade over WDAE. ...Add the fact that 98.7 is LIVE and LOCAL almost 24 hours a day 7 days week is far and above almost any other radio station in Tampa Bay. Rip the talent all you want... but I'll take LIVE and LOCAL 24/7 any day over some of the crap I hear up and down the dial in 2012.

I think that when it comes to putting together a lineup from scratch, 98-7 did pretty well. I think putting Chris Dingman on the morning show was a great idea. Hockey goons...I mean enforcers...are almost always interesting and thoughtful guys. Booger McFarland comes across as much more enthusiastic and far better prepared than the other Ex-Buc. As far as Herrera being the weak link, well everybody's not going to love everybody. The ratings will tell the story.

Now Rich Herrera and Booger are together, and Todd Wright is alone in a different time slot. What do you all think led to that? Did Todd and Booger not work out? Was this planned all along? Would Todd rather be a lone wolf? I'm curious.

I did notice yesterday that Herrera had better chemistry with Booger than Todd did (IMO). Maybe I'm answering my own question.

I like Rich and I figure he's on the right track when so many of the posters, here, don't like him.

He is accomplishing the goal.

I disagree. If you dislike a guy and keep listening in the Howard Stern "what is he going to say next!?" way, then he's doing it right. I think the posters here dislike him because they don't find him compelling to listen to. Or maybe they just don't like his voice because he doesn't have a "radio voice," if that makes sense.

I haven't caught any of Todd Wright at night, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he just likes hosting by himself better. More comfortable; feels he can have a better program to air. That, and he's never been a caller-driven show host, which is what I think him and Booger were supposed to be?

I think the morning show is still getting their feet under them, building the chemistry. I think it's going to be just fine in the long run.

Personally, I listened to the old 1010 way more than I have found myself listening to The Fan.

Rich Herrera is the weak link and it always sounds like he's eating food when he talks. I think they could do better than him.

So 1) you live no more than 2 miles north or south of the 1010 stick and 2) which of the 20 previous versions of 1010 do you speak?

This one is by far the best they've ever had. May not be perfect, but putting Wright on his own two feet where he is far more comfortable, and not being afraid to tweak the station in the first book shows they're not afraid of 620.

It is kind of startling how consistently I come on this board and read something that badjef posted and just shake my head, almost to the point where I judge something on what he says, and think the opposite.

Terrible opinions.

Thank you!

That's the nicest thing I've heard all day.

It's noting personal, dude. We just disagree on a lot of stuff. Different tastes and what not. I don't doubt that you're a nice guy.

I don't take anything on this board personally and don't necessarily want people to agree with me. I never said I knew everything.

Life is like the traffic accident in the middle of the intersection and we are all standing on our own corner. We will see the same accident but differently.

There is no perfect transmission system or format.

And politics can, and often does, trump everything.
