Well, i'll go out on a limb here and throw in that with stern moving to sirius in 06' and NASCAR in 2007, the membership rolls will increase. But, I agree that Sirius needs to sign more "AAA talent" and get rid of some of D-Listers. One off the top of my head is Madison, woman grates my last nerve and thensome. She reminds me of one of those really bad DJ's you'd hear at college or in a small/medium market. Frankly, she has no business on Sirius and needs to go back to the sticks where her cousin-lovin self came from. Another would be that "effiminate" fellow on The Beat, I grow tired of his "sissy boy" lisp and double-entandra. Its funny if you do it sometimes, not all the time.

Why XM is ahead of Sirius...

It's not because of talent, because I believe both have talent that appeals.

Xm had a head start on Sirius, XM IMO has better marketing than Sirius, Xm got the tie up with car manufacturers that were prepared to put the XM's in the car, activated with a year's worth of free service. Sirius was slower on that step.

However Richard Simmons might be able to attract that additional subscription. It won't be mine though.

BBC Radio 1 was the deal clincher - in September I'm getting Sirius to add to my XM.

Mark.

OMG, im glad I dont have XM anymore. I hate that Ferry Fruit Basket. XM can keep him, Ill stick with Stern and BBC

another waste of money. I wonder how much they are paying him?
They should've just signed up a better known terriestrial jock for one of the music channels.

I believe you misread the post. Richard Simmons is going to Sirius. Not XM

NASCAR, although it's a very visible property, there's a few problems...

1) NASCAR Radio is already readily available on FM in NASCAR's main markets.

2) Like the NFL, NASCAR is once-a-week appointment television.

3) Unlike the NFL or MLB, NASCAR is not a very radio-friendly sport. I'm not defending other TV sports on the radio like XM's Golf coverage, but still...

To expect a huge sub pop because of Nascar in 2007, you're fooling yourself.

How do you make the conclusion that NASCAR isn't a radio-friendly
sport? XM even has 2 channels for NASCAR (144 & 145).

When asking the "XM Vs. Sirius" question, any programming that
either has will obviously sway that decision. With the many millions
of people who follow NASCAR, there will obviously be those who
make the Sirius choice based on this.
