Richard Todd leaving WTMA

Richard Todd, the longtime WTMA morning host, has announced that he is leaving the station after tomorrow (Friday).

He is quitting of his own accord, says his priorities have changed. Basically, he is a single dad of a 9-year old child. He lasted about a month in his time back after Todd's wife Mary died.

Todd: "Time is the most precious thing there is."

He will probably be replaced by Fred Story or John Quincy, who filled in for him during his long absence.

The death of a spouse is, without a doubt, a very tramatic experience. It can cause you to wake up and realize that your priorities have now changed. Being a single father of a 9 year old and the responsibilities that go along with it don't mix very well with being up at 4am preparing a morning show - especially when the child have to be a school during his airshift. I don't know Richard, and have never lost a spouse, so I don't know what it's like to have to deal with that - but I certainly feel for him. You know it can't be easy. I do wish Richard the best of luck with future endeavors. He is good talent that will be hard to replace.

Richard will be missed.
How much yall want to bet Cumulus does not hire a new local host but just brings in another show from out of town?

Oh no, I'm saving my money. ;D

FWIW: It's sometimes easy to forget for the radio audience that the people that work in it have families too. Hopefully Richard Todd will be able to come back to radio at some point.

Hate to hear it. Hate to hear he's leaving. Hate the circumstances that brought this about.
I worked with Richard for just over a year. He's a VERY solid guy.
I wish he and his family well

There is nothing worse than the dath of ones spouse and i say this because I have been living it for three years. I understand deeply how his priorities have changed and personally wish Richard Todd the best of luck.
