12+ ratings look kind of ill this book. Nobody really gained ground, but a lot of cats like Q, the Planet, and Y got a beat-down.

Other thoughts?

Hi radioxrichmond....I'm curious if you think that satellite radio might be impacting non urban/ non hispanic stations in the market?

Wow about Y101... 0.9 is horrible. I wonder if the station sticks with Alternative when it moves to 100.9...

Doubt it. I'll liberally say satellite radio has 5% of the market...but probably a lot less. If it does do anything, maybe sports and news/talk are the worst hit. Most people get it free with their cars and never bother to listen or renew the subscription.

Yeah. Anyway you slice the demos, you just can't do a 0.9 and do well...esp. with a semi-niche format like alternative.

And I'm a bit suprised they have lasted this long on 101.1. Since around '04 or so, Y has been beaten to a pulp in the ratings. I don't know when the move to 100.9 will be, but I really doubt Y will make it there in their current incarnation.

So given all this, time to play wheel of formats! What can Cox put on there to make $$$?

Question about WMXB. Why are they now considered Hot AC? I know they adjusted their play list a few months back but they do not really play anything new or anything off the Hot AC. And they sound nothing like the old b103. They sound like like lite 98 now without the 70s. As for y101, I think they should go CHR/rhythmic or rhythmic/ AC

Personally, I think they dumped B-103 because the modern rock audience was pretty much taken (If you remember, B-103 was a rockin' hot AC). Rather than flying the white flag on then dominant rocker Y-101, it was better to flip B-103 to a softer version of AC. As of right now, Liberty has kinda taken B-103's old modern rock stuff...plus Y-101 is still standing for now.

I think if the move to 100.9 will take awhile, and if Mix continues to stagnate, Cox will put CHR/Rhythmic on 103.7 and dump something else on 100.9...my inclination is News/Talk. Flip the signal in mono, and you'll have full-market coverage.
