Richmond Ratings....

Well, as I am making this post, I am looking at the newest book to hit for ratings. Looks like Cox might need a need a bottle of advil. If not that, something stronger. K95 is doing what it usually does, top 5 area. The Planet is doing ok but I don't think will ever get close again to the top 5 with Dick Hungate gone. The two issues for them are Y101 and Mix103.7. Y is almost 2 full points BEHIND the X now. Mix103(a cheap Lite98 clone) is getting killed. I think that one of the two stations needs a change after this book to one of two formats. Hot AC or Rythmic Top 40, although with two top 5 urban stations, Rythmic might be pushing it a little. Clear Channel is doing well, all but WRNL is in the top 10.

Thought to ponder, if Y101 were to change formats, would that give the X more of a boost or barely. I am thinking if Y101 were to leave, maybe 1 full point or one and a half, but not enough to crack the top 5. It's just a thought, given that Murphey and Charlie are both gone, thus the last of the regular Y 101 weekday jocks are now out the door that were there in 2001.

we will soon see.....

If Y was to flip, I think the X would gain a point...which is still respectable

Where the X is killing Y is with the VCU students and the blue-collar folks. If you have ever tried to pick up Y in one of VCU's dorms, you're SOL. Blue collar workers like the Metallica, Nirvana, and Alice In Chains, and are quite happy the X is devoid of screamo...

Y wins out in most of the high school category and some of the yuppie category (though I think many will defect to Liberty)

Mix will probably not flip. They bill much better than B-103 did, and as previously posted, the only goal of Mix is to knock down Lite 98 a point or two so K-95 will be on top of them

If there is a station to keep an eye on, it's 107.3/100.3. The future home for the Wolf? Hmm....

I suppose Y's goal was to cut off some points from the former XL (and now the X) so the Planet would be higher.

When you look at it, Y's signal is a dog. It's blocked by 101.3 in Farmville, 101.3 in Norfolk, and 101.1 in DC...even if the 100.9 B1 conversion goes through, I think it will be on WUPV's tower, which would be bad for folks out in Western Chesterfield and Petersburg...Personally, I'd love to see them purchase 101.3 in Farmville... (I'm tired of hearing 20 minute 'live' cuts from the Allman Bros.)

I would be curious what Charlie meant by "Programming changes"

Yes indeed, we WILL soon see

Radio, on that you and I BOTH agree. Even though my instincts saw Charlie leaving Y101 when Mike Murphey left for Baltimore for the new Live 105.7, I still wonder what is going on in the mind of Cox as far as hiring a new PD. Is it someone with experience with Alternative or Active Rock radio, or is it someone with another format.

X in my book will always beat out Y, although they tend to leave out my precious Alt 80's behind(gets off the soapbox). It's not into the screaming that Y is into, as you said. That and of course, X goes out as east as Newport News, West out to Charlottesville, North to Stafford, South to Emporia.

Mix won't change, but I think Y MIGHT become either HotAc, FM Talk or Rythmic Top 40.

we will soon see
