RICK BALIS TO CHICAGO?

The big news in Chicago today is the dismissal of WLUP PD Tim Dukes AND WKQX PD Mike Stern.

The station is apparently looking for a single candidate to replace them.

Will Emmis bring up the only real rock expert in their company - Rick Balis at KSHE - for his second tour of duty? Chicago is his hometown and he was WLUP's PD in the mid 90's for a couple of years.

That would be the excellent choice.

I'd like Bails to go to Chicago so everyone can stop talking about how great he is. KSHE's not that good. They get ratings because of heritage. If he goes to the Loop and Q and they continue at the bottom of the ratings, maybe people will realize he's just another pd.

I worked for Rick at KSHE from 1999 to 2002 and thought he was a pretty good PD. One of the best I've worked for in the 26 years I've been in the business. I certainly didn't always agree with every decision he made but he made me a better jock through regular air-check meetings. Something most PDs don't even bother with anymore. I wish him the best.
