rick chase

still one of the bay area's greatest talents who was gone too soon!!! alot of KMEL's great's are still around, renel, michael erickson, efrin, john london, davey d.

but, what the heck happened to EVAN LUCK???? that guy put KMEL on the map, with Love Lines, and they were always known for breakin new artists like mariah carey, digital underground, mc hammer, en vogue, and SUMMER JAM!!!! KMEL back in the late 80's early 90's was on point, unlike the KMEL of today, in my opinion.

your thoughts.......

Yes RICK CHASE! Man I remember him, he was great in the afternoon. Nobody else could come close. I was young, maybe 13-14 and there was no other radio station I would listen to.

EVEN LUCK! I remember that guy, he was the DJ in the evenings. He did a segment called "Even Lucks Battle Of the Rappers!!"

Here is a question for all you KMEL listeners out there. When Clear Channel took over, the voice of KMEL (The Guy that does all the voiceovers saying the call letters" Changed! Who is that other guy??

I miss his voice cause I believe it was much better than the new guys voice. Part of the station died when the voice changed.

69 thousand watts of music power!!!

Rick Chase was one of my very best friends. Miss the guy so much. His last gig in Sacramento he paid me $300 cash to cut his breakers and sweepers for him. His real name was George Fryer and he came from Salinas. When I was at KWSS in San Jose 1985 - 89, Rick listened and called all the time. He really wanted to be part of KWSS. ... My favorite memory of Rick, is the time he picked me up here at the house and took me to Fisherman's Wharf for a hamburger, God! The guy was a daredevil! He honked his horn obsessively weaved through lanes and scared me to death! The night Joe Theisman broke his leg on Monday Night Footbal, I was interviewing with Steve Rivers at KMEL to be Production Director (1989) Rick set all that up. He's in Heaven now, reading this. GREAT GUY! -John-

That guys name was Mitch Craig. I even know the name of the new voiceover guy. His name is Eric Edwards!

The older voiceover guy (Mitch Craig, according to Mr. Ochs above) probably specializes in radio image VO work, like Bobby Ocean. I heard his VO work on stations in a number of markets when I travelled - on various formats like KSTE (a talk station) in Sacramento.
