Rick Dees Morning Show Debut

When does Dees debut on Movin' 93.9? It seems like they've waited a long time before putting him on the air. I wonder if other dayparts will be staffed on the same day as Dees debut or if they'll go jockless the rest of the day for a while longer.

My guess is that they need the time to build Dees' personal studio. He has his favorite board, likes round pots, not sliders, and that takes time to break down and re-construct. He'll probably want to use carts too, but who knows? I think they're still looking to jocks for the other dayparts, but only Emmis
knows for sure...

Heard a Rick promo that says "Just 6 more days til Rick"!!! Must be starting on next Monday......

No, Sunday for the Weekly Top 40. I first heard it last Friday (9 days).

The O.C. Register obviously doesn't listen to the radio or have any radio contacts with Dees or Emmis based on this story from Sunday.

Radio: No start date yet for Dees radio
So what's up with Movin' 93.9 FM? It's been about three weeks and no word yet on when Rick Dees will start his morning show.

"Nothing official" is the standard comment when asked when Dees and his new team will take over morning drive on 93.9 FM, which flipped from country to rhythmic pop contemporary on Aug. 17.

Dees' challenge will be to not only corral – whoops, is that a country music term?– new listeners, but find a way to attract back those listeners who not only enjoyed country music, but liked Dees when he was on contemporary hits KIIS-FM. Some of those same KZLA listeners say they will never tune in Dees because he is part of the gang that dumped country music.

"We're close to making that announcement," said Anna Loynes, spokesperson with Scoop Marketing, which is handling PR for the station. The new call letters are KMVN

Stay tuned…..
