Rick Dees MOViN to AMP?

No chance. It's been stated here on numerous occasions that Dees is no longer relevant to the CHR demo. The only place I could see the Deesman ending up is at KRTH 101.

Still wanting to redeem himself against Seacrest, what is the possiblility of Rick Dees in the Morning on AMP Radio?

I was wondering when someone would have this idea. In my mind there are two main issues.

First would be that he likely has an ironclad contract with KMVN from which they would not be well served to completely release him.

Second, his relevance to the younger audience, is he still the ratings magnet that he once was and his performance, not his fault entirely, on KMVN doesn’t give much support to that .

My personal take is no it wouldn’t be a good move for 97.1, given my number two concern.

I would have thought he would be a better fit on KRTH which will attract the listeners who were Dees fans during his heydays from KHJ and KIIS such as myself. But that would also be subject to an absolute release from his Emmis contract which would not happen unless they (Movin’) were going to flip to something else and even then they might not appreciate the competition from any other station or format.

Dees won't be going to CBS. He blew his chance to go to KRTH with all his demands to them post KIIS.

You're wrong that it would be a disservice to Emmis for him to leave. I'm sure they'd be thrilled to rid themselves of him. He is the most overpaid morning person in L.A. for what he returns to Emmis which is next to nothing. It is almost entirely his fault where he is today. He's an old guy trying to be hip and it doesn't work. He has an old act that hasn't been fresh since the mid 80's and he's now surrounded himself with a support staff he does not relate to which is painfully evident on the air. He does not relate to anyone under 40 so being on any CHR is out of the question. He can barely do AC.

His contract is up this year. I'll be quite surprised if he'll even be at Movin, if it is still around, after this summer.

It's really sad to see how this has played out. I agree with everything Glenn says above. I've tuned in to his Movin show on occasion and it is actually painfull to listen to.

He really blew it on the KRTH deal. He could have taken a bit less, related to the audience that really knows him, and he could spend a decade there or more and be an LA radio LEGEND. While he still is for his accomplishments in the past, they are now tarnished with this Movin debacle. He has proven himself to be absolutely irrelevant in LA Radio in 2009.

Rick Dees is signficantly more talented that Ryan SeaPest ever was. Unfortunately, as mentioned in this thread, his days with that demo are over. He has been banished to older demos to eternally sing "Disco Duck" in Radio Hell. I do wish him the best of luck as he was always an inspiration to me. I hate to say it, but the super personality of radio in days of yore doesn't cut it with the young kids who have a short attention span. Seacrest is solid but is about as vanilla as they come in the personality department.
