Tonight was his last sportscast on both KTTV and KCOP.

At the end of Fox 11 News at 10, they played a compilation of Rick at KTTV and KCOP over the last 22 years. He started at KTTV as a weekend news anchor and reporter in 1987 but became the primary sports anchor the following year. He was also on UPN 13/My 13 (KCOP) for the last 5 1/2 years as news anchor and more recently sports anchor when they rebranded My 13 News as Fox News at 11 (on Channel 13).

I have no idea where he is going but from the chatting going on between Carlos Amezca, Christine Devine, Mark Thompson and Rick Garcia, especially on the 11 PM, I would speculate he is going to be a news anchor somewhere in L.A..

The L.A. Daily News interviewed Garcia for their sports media column a few years ago. He pretty much stated that he preferred to anchor news than sports. To me and many of us, it'll be no surprise that Garcia will be a news anchor, whether it be in Los Angeles or somewhere else.
