Rick Kaucher, dj and record promoter

Got this from Facebook. Never knew Rick personally, but grew up listening to him. He was one of the best announcers that I can recall from my teenage years.

Eric George “Rick” Kaucher, 62, of Branson, Missouri died July 7, 2018 of neuroendocrine cancer.

Eric was born July 14, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Edward and Wanda Kaucher. He grew up in New Castle, Indiana attending Chrysler High School, and graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California in 1973. He earned varsity letters in football and wrestling at both schools.

Eric attended the University of Tennessee-Martin, after which he began his lifelong career in radio and record promotion. Known over the years as Rick Kaucher and Eric Marshall, he was employed at radio stations in West Tennessee, Memphis, Nashville, Northwest Arkansas and Branson, Missouri and was a regional promotion representative for Giant Records. During his career, Eric was honored by the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, the Gavin Report and Billboard Magazine. He also spent time working in law enforcement and emergency services.

Eric enjoyed playing golf, and was a fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers sports teams and the Cincinnati Reds. He coached his sons’ Little League baseball teams, served as play-by-play radio announcer for Hollister High School football, and was the field announcer for the Ozark Mountain Marching Festival in Reeds Spring.

Eric will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sally Kaucher, whom he married in 1986; father Edward Kaucher of Cincinnati, Ohio; son Charles and girlfriend Anna Hood of Springfield, Missouri; son Christopher and fiance’ Alexandria Ledezma of Ridgedale, Missouri; daughter Tracey Hobart of Decatur, Alabama; grandchildren Cyrus, Austin, Jackson, Kira and Estelle; brother Skip and wife Kathy of New Palestine, Indiana; sister Louanne Weber and husband Mark of Chattanooga, Tennessee; an aunt and two cousins, several nieces and nephews, and faithful companion Darla.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Jean Kaucher, in 2009.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 14th at 2 p.m. at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, 1638 East Highway 76, Branson, Missouri 65616.

Eric hired me to do weekends on WSIX in August of 1990...I was able to convince him to let me take over the Saturday 6-10am "best of" Gerry and the House Foundation:
as I posted on FB a few days ago...Eric always gave me too much freedom...and way too much credit. I did the HF stuff until Gerry retired from WSIX in December of 2010...
by far my favorite gig ever...and I got to do it for over 20 years. Thanks, Eric...for believing.
