Rick Party on 100.3 JAMZ - 1990

Hey all,
That is a great video...I remember Party on KJMZ 100.3 Jammms. I was in High School here in North Texas. I loved to the music in the early 1990's. Party sounded great in DFW radio. I love to hear 100.3 go back to KJMZ 100.3 format...drop Movin 107.5 put back Smooth Jazz 107.5....Moved Movin music to 100.3...Change monker to "100.3 Jamms to cool again".

Brings back memories. That was one great radio station with terrific personalities...Russ Parr, Def Jeff the news guy, Champagne, Sammi Gonzales, Keith Solis, etc.

OK, OK... I didn't think it would be... but yeah... that ain't me ;D

Hell, I helped put up that deck of tapes. Nice working with ol' Kwame.

Salem, where is Shane anyway? Last I heard, he was in Corpus or something like that.

VDV...Now I know who you are!!!!! You've GOT to be EZ-STREET, right?!? heehee ;D

So was this taped at the old McCree Rd (KBOX/KMEZ) studios? What a COOL piece of history there. So hard to think that we're so distanced (in time) from that era...just doesn't seem right, when jocks could have fun AND be a pro at what they do, and that stuff actually mattered to the listener AND to management. :'(

Now maybe they still do this stuff at Kiss-FM, but I don't like today's "music" enough to even listen. Jamz hit the mark with their presentation and talent, hands down. Of course, it helped, too, that the Top 40 then was cross-cultural and listenable and even FUN.

I miss that station soooo much.... :'(

This was at the illustrious address of 545 W. John Carpenter Fwy., high atop Las Colinas., back in the ol' Summit/Granum days of yore. And Mike, you were actually close. I was EZ's producer for years, while working the Thunderstorm and Russ' show when Shane wasn't available providing voices and the like. As Salem can tell you, Tom Casey and Warren Brooks... I owe everything I have experienced in radio to them giving a snotty nose high school kid a chance because I "had pipes and could crack a joke on cue."

Wouldn't it be nice if CBS brought back 100.3 Jamz? CBS might suck at other formats, but they are pretty good at hip hop, (WPGC, Hot 93.7). Just think, Dr. Dave saying, "100.3 Jamz...Blazin' 18 Jamz in a Row".

Tom Casey was an ass, but he consistantly kicked K104's arse...

Ass he was, indeed. I am just glad the day I was on air with EZ with the Top 9 at 9, and he called the hotline to hire me, he was nice. If he was "himself", I would have ended up on UNT's station or WRR. Geesh.
